United States : Gov. Reynolds signs school equity bill into law.

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 455 into law on Thursday at Central High School in Davenport. SF 455 appropriates $14.1 million next school year to deliver greater equity in education spending and school bus transportation.

Sen. Roby Smith worked tirelessly to pass this bill, Gov. Reynolds said. I thank him, along with the students, school board members and other advocates who worked on this bill, and the bills floor managers, Sen. Amy Sinclair and Rep. Walt Rogers. Investing in Iowa students is the most significant commitment we make together across our great state.

Senate File 455: an Act relating to school district funding by modifying and establishing provisions relating to state school foundation program and school district transportation costs, making appropriations, and including effective date provisions. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 19, 92-5 and the Iowa Senate on Feb. 26, 45-4.
