United States : GOLDEN SOFTWARE announces launch of MAPVIEWER 8.

The major developer of low-cost scientific graphics software, Golden Software, LLC, has announced the launch of MapViewer 8, a mapping and spatial analysis software package that helps its users produce publication-quality thematic maps.

MapViewer, which was introduced in 1990, is now one of the most robust and user-friendly thematic mapping software packages.

The company developed MapViewer mainly for scientists, engineers, business professionals, and those in academia. It provides 16 unique and 100% customizable map types.

MapViewer allows its users to easily overlay maps on several layers and add graticule lines, scale bars, legends, and title bars to generate a professional and beautiful display.

The most popular among the new features of MapViewer 8, is the fully redesigned user-interface. Its maker has abandoned the classic menu design in favor of the more easy-to-use ribbon bar, which will highlight the new features as well as some less popular features that already existed in earlier versions.

Following a review of MapViewer 8, MapViewer customers and beta-testers have the following to say.

Kazimierz J Zaniewski, Ph.D., Professor of Geography, Geography and Urban Planning, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, says : "MapViewer is my favorite mapping software; it has more thematic map options than any other software package on the market in this country."

Jim Lance, Independent Geophysicist, adds : "Creating a good oil & gas base map is no easy task. All the high-dollar seismic software we use is good, but they all lack the flexibility that you guys provide."

Bob McConnaughey, Ph.D., Epidemiology Support and Analysis, Research Triangle Park, NC, USA, comments : "I LOVE the contiguous cartogram very elegant."

Tobias Spears, Consultant, Spears Agile Solutions, Inc., said : "The new interface looks great and I am very happy to see the WMS support."
