United States : FLANDREAU council approves bid for NORTH VETERANS STREET project.
As per the reports, Flandreau City Council has reviewed all eight bids for the reconstruction of North Veterans Street on Monday July 16 and came to the decision to award the project to Dakota Road Builders. The council had both asphalt and concrete bids for the project with multiple companies bidding for both. Dakota Road Builders placed the lowest bid for both asphalt and for concrete construction, the winnings concrete bid was at $206,370.76.
The estimated lifetime cost of this project, including a three percent inflation rate, was $233,201. The final price includes plans for routine maintenance during years 10, 20 and 30. The asphalt project s estimated lifetime cost, including a three percent inflation rate, was $308,166. This price included routine seal coating at years 7, 14 and 27, with two overlay projects at years 20 and 34.
The concrete road will have four inches of base material with six inches of concrete surface compared to asphalt that may have eight inches of base material and just two inches of surface asphalt. The concrete project will save the city $74,965 dollars over the life of the street.
