United States : DibbsBarker continues to build commercial strength with another partner appointment in Brisbane.

DibbsBarker is pleased to announce that Andrew Rankin, a leading corporate and commercial lawyer, has joined the firm as a partner.

Andrew comes to DibbsBarker from Norton Rose Fulbright where he was a partner in the Corporate & Commercial team for 10 years, before which he was a senior practitioner at Allens. He brings strong credentials in several of DibbsBarker s key industry sectors, particularly Agribusiness, Life Sciences & Healthcare and Energy & Infrastructure.

Andrew is a well-regarded M&A practitioner with a strong track record running large and complex commercial transactions. He recently advised Sundrop Farms Holdings Ltd, a London-based company that operates greenhouse facilities in South Australia and produces pest-free vegetables, on the $100 million investment it received from global private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co L.P. Andrew also led the team that advised Allied Gold Limited on two concurrent schemes of arrangement which resulted in the $387 million placement of Allied Gold Mining PLC on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, the Australian Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Andrew regularly advises Boards and senior management teams on corporate governance issues, and frequently presents to executive and non-executive directors on various topics of interest, such as directors duties. His practice also includes general corporate advisory work, as well as advice on competition law, privacy law and data protection matters.

Having practised in Brisbane for over 20 years, Andrew has exceptional knowledge of the Queensland market and his expertise is highly regarded. He has held longstanding relationships with a number of clients since his career began, including Queensland X-Ray, Sugar Research Australia and Gallagher Bassett Services. Andrew s peers have also identified him as a leader in his field for several years running, nominating him for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in Australia list for Competition Law, Corporate Law, Corporate Governance Practice and Mergers and Acquisitions Law.

Alan McArthur, DibbsBarker s Managing Partner, said: Building our commercial capability in Brisbane has been a key priority for DibbsBarker and Andrew is the perfect addition to our team. His depth of knowledge and experience in the Queensland market is outstanding, and he has significant experience acting for clients in many of the industries that are core areas of focus for DibbsBarker. He has particularly strong credentials in the healthcare sector, which will make him a vital member of DibbsBarker s Life Sciences & Healthcare industry group.

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew said: DibbsBarker s industry focus is very well aligned with my own experience and expertise, so it feels like a great fit. I think the firm has a wonderful culture and a very strong growth trajectory, and I m pleased to be joining at such an exciting time.

Andrew is the third major recruit to join DibbsBarker s burgeoning commercial practice in Brisbane this year. Partner Juanita Rayson was welcomed from Corrs Chambers Westgarth in February, while Partner Anna Feros joined in April upon her return to Australia from Shepherd & Wedderburn LLP in London.
