United States : COUNTY BOARD directs staff to start working with TKDA on pre-design of projects.

Plans have been announced to implement repairs and replacement projects at the county government center in Center City, that would cost over $600,000.

The County Board unanimously instructed staff to begin their work with TKDA on 'pre-design' of projects for 2014, last week.

TKDA was among five bids filed with the staff by providers of outside engineering services.

The county government center has a boiler plant, the installation of which dates back to 1973. The chiller and cooling tower and other mechanicals also are reaching the end of their lives.

Tuckpointing and miscellaneous concrete repairs are also among the key projects.

Roof replacement (the 1979 roof and another in 1989) is also being though over for bidding.

In order to make the projects move forward, the county inked a contract with TKDA to put together stipulations and help with the bidding process.

The company will help to establish warranty and conduct a final inspection, and help assess any annual service contracts that special equipment requires.
