United Kingdom : Rachel Fletcher and Christine Farnish appointed to Ofgems governing authority.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has today approved the appointment of Rachel Fletcher and Christine Farnish to Ofgems governing authority, the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (GEMA).

Rachel joined Ofgem in 2005 and is now Senior Partner for the Consumers and Competition Division. She will become an executive member of GEMA from 1 February 2016 for seven years.

Christine has substantial experience as a nonexecutive director across a range of sectors and extensive experience of consumer affairs. She will join GEMA as a non-executive member until 31 January 2021.Commenting on the appointment, GEMA Chairman, David Gray, said: We are delighted to welcome Christine and Rachel to the Authority.

Both will bring a wealth of experience across a number of areas that are relevant to the challenges we are addressing, and will play a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction of Ofgem and in ensuring that we fulfil our duty to make a positive difference for energy consumers.
