United Kingdom : Planning team secure permission for the redevelopment of Ransomes Wharf, Battersea, SW11.

Savills, on behalf of Curatus Trust (Mauritius) Limited , secured resolution to grant planning permission at a Wandsworth planning committee for the redevelopment of Ransomes Wharf in Battersea, London, SW11.

The application proposes the comprehensive redevelopment of this large site to provide an exciting and vibrant creative and cultural quarter within north Battersea. The scheme comprises 118 high quality private and affordable flats in a warehouse style development that the architects MSMR designed purposely to reflect the heritage of the site and building design of Ransome s Wharf.

2,200sqm of flexible commercial space would be located at ground floor level, designed to enhance the emerging creative, artistic and cultural character of this area. These commercial spaces will be positioned around a central public piazza which benefits from access from Elcho Street through the site to the wharf. The public piazza is also intended to be a flexible space that also provides an area which can be used for various creative and artistic installations. The scheme was unanimously supported by members at committee.

Scott Hudson, Savills planning team says : This has been an extremely exciting and interesting project to work on due to the desire of the applicant to create something different on this site that really taps into the arts through the use of the commercial and public spaces at ground level and then building attractive residential accommodation around these spaces. It is a unique scheme that will certainly add positively to this part of Battersea attracting businesses, visitors and residents.
