United Kingdom : Howard Simons becomes FluidOil's head of engineering.

Heavy crude expert FluidOil has announced the appointment of Howard Simons as head of engineering.

The last two years saw Simons working with the company as an external consultant, helping to run its UK pilot plant for the conversion of heavy oil and bitumen to synthetic crude oil in a commercial scale unit.

This work helped him develop full understanding and knowledge of the Viscositor Heavy-to-Light (VHTL) oil conversion process.

In his new role Simons will be responsible for FluidOils commercial engineering as well as the engineering for the companys Feedstock Test Facility located at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

He has over 3 decades of experience in refinery and process engineering projects worldwide, and is a leading expert on heavy oil upgrading.

His experience, knowledge and vision will be instrumental in optimising the ongoing integration of HTL with FluidOils Viscositor technology, enabling us to accelerate the commercialisation of VHTL.
