United Kingdom : Corporates unite in support of youth mental health.

Dentons Lawyers Network and Westpac Groups Youth Network have joined forces to support batyr, an organisation focused on youth mental health, in a corporate scavenger hunt organised by Secret Cities in Sydneys CBD last Thursday.

With almost one in five Australians experiencing mental illness every year, and with depression and anxiety being the most prevalent, the event sought to address the stigma associated with mental illness by giving a voice to the elephant in the room.

Teams of four young professionals, from across some of Australias largest corporates, followed clues and raced around Sydneys CBD to five locations.

Each locations focused on one of batyrs five tips for mental wellness, including a group session of laughing yoga in Martin Place with more than 100 young professionals.

Co-Chair of Dentons Lawyers Network, solicitor Edward Gregory, said, were proud to be able to partner with Westpac Groups Youth Network to support the important work of batyr. Mental illness is of particular concern in the legal profession and encouraging discussion is a critical step in maintaining mental wellbeing. Our intention was to organise an informal and fun event for young professionals that would break down the stigma surrounding mental illness and promote open discussion among friends and colleagues, something we certainly saw last Thursday night.

Jono Peatfield, Partnerships Manager, batyr, said. its inspiring to see so many young professionals coming together to not only support the work that batyr do but to show how much they value mental health in the workplace and are committed to creating real change. Were excited to work with Dentons Lawyers Network and Westpacs Youth Network to launch our batyr@work offering & are grateful for their support."

The event was made possible by the support of a number of sponsors, including Secret Cities, Barney Cools and Budgy Smuggler.
