United Airlines flight diverted to Boston after on-board disturbance.
A United Airlines flight en route from Britain to the United States was diverted today (16 August) after a disturbance on board.
The aircraft was flying from London's Heathrow Airport to Washington's Dulles International Airport when a female passenger apparently became involved in a confrontation with members of the flight crew.
Reports said that a 60-year-old woman on the flight was suffering from claustrophobia. The pilot declared an emergency and the aircraft was escorted to Boston's Logan International Airport by US Air Force fighter jets.
Police later confirmed that there was no apparent terrorist threat.
Upon landing one person was arrested and the luggage from the aircraft was checked by sniffer dogs.
There were 182 passengers and 12 crew members on board the flight.
