Unisys receives key approval from Microsoft for delivering IT operations assessments and enterprise management service offerings.

Assessments Based on Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) Identify IT Infrastructure Process and Technology Gaps

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) has announced that it has been certified by Microsoft Corp. as a global Microsoft Solutions for Management (MSM) Delivery Partner.

This recognition enables Unisys to perform operational analyses that allow enterprise users of Microsoft technology to align their IT infrastructure to support and advance strategic business objectives.

Unisys is only the second independent service provider to receive this certification, based on the company's experience in delivering MSM Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) operations assessments.

MOF operations assessments help customers optimize their operation of the Microsoft Windows platform for mission-critical services and better manage and deploy Microsoft applications by providing a blueprint for addressing key management issues, such as people, processes and technology.

"We are excited about the opportunity to work with Unisys to provide our customers with a comprehensive management solution for the most common customer scenarios," said David Hamilton, director of the Enterprise Management Division at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft Solutions for Management enables companies to achieve operational excellence and improve the manageability of the Windows platform while reducing the total cost of ownership."

As an MSM Delivery Partner, Unisys performs IT operations assessments for clients based on the proven industry best practices outlined in the MOF methodology. MOF best practices include guidelines on planning, deploying and maintaining IT operations in support of mission critical service solutions.

This structured yet flexible approach is based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), an emerging standard for delivery of IT services.

"Our clients are not only looking for ways to reduce and control IT management costs, but also expecting to maximize the return on their IT infrastructure investments," said Louie Peak, principal, IT Strategy & Planning service line, North America, Unisys Global Infrastructure Services. "Adding the Microsoft Solutions for Management tool set to our infrastructure consulting portfolio enables us to help our clients meet their business objectives by improving their infrastructure's efficiency, reliability and total cost of ownership."

Unisys and Microsoft recommend a MOF operations assessment for any enterprise running Microsoft applications and seeking to assess the current state of its operational processes. Unisys consultants compare those processes to industry-recommended standards and best practices, identify and prioritize required improvements and develop a plan enabling the client to implement those improvements.

Unisys expert consultants are uniquely qualified to deliver MOF operations assessments. Not only has the Unisys consulting force for Microsoft technology received the ITIL IT Service Manager (master-level) certification, but the company was also a key contributor with Microsoft behind the development of MOF.
