Union to step up industrial action.
A campaign of industrial action by contract workers at the head office of a Government department is being stepped up from today.
Members of the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) working in catering for Aramark and cleaning for ISS at the Business Department (BEIS) in London have been taking industrial action since July.
The PCS announced a programme of escalated industrial action for September, October and early November.
From today, union members who work for ISS in security, the post room, porterage and reception, will begin a two-week period of industrial action.
The same group of workers will launch a programme of rolling industrial action from September 30 until November 1. PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: "This escalation by our brave BEIS members underlines the determination they have to win the London Living Wage and union recognition.
"Ministers at BEIS and their private contractors should hang their heads in shame for not resolving this dispute.
"Our members will keep fighting tooth and nail until they win a just settlement ."
