Unilever launches GCC-relevant products at Gulfood.

Unilever Food Solutions has introduced a number of new Middle Eastern focused products at Gulfood 2015.

The company is showcasing its coconut milk powder, shawarma and shish taouk marinades and a new concentrated chicken bouillon.

The coconut milk powder is now resealable, freezer friendly and is made from 88% real coconut, which according to Marc Hayes, Unilever Food Solutions executive chef Arabia, is more than any competitor on the market.

"I'm very proud of this product; it's very new for us and it's been launched here and in Sri Lanka and it will be going out globally soon," said Hayes.

New shawarma and shish taouk marinades have also been produced "specifically for the gulf countries".

The product was produced in Egypt following research on Egypt and the Gulf countries.

"The marinade has all of the spice mixes but also cuts down your marinating time by at least a third so instead of 24 hours for shawarma you only need four now and instead of 12 hours for shish taouk now you only need two hours to really penetrate, marinade and soften your meat," explains Hayes.

The new concentrated chicken bouillon from Malaysia is also being promoted at Gulfood.

"It's concentrated down and used to finish off your dish so whether mixing through your cuts right at the end or having this to season your sauces," said Hayes.

"It doesn't replace your chicken powder but it is used to reduce it and add this as an aroma right at the end.
