Ultrasonics take aim at pouch sealing.
According to Herrmann, the ultrasonic process seals through contaminated surfaces, provides hermetic seals that result in fewer leaks, and reduces packaging material costs because less head space is required. Other advantages over heat sealing reportedly include shorter sealing and hot-tack times, lower energy costs, and immediate system readiness (no preheating required).
