Ulster Bank [euro]4 monthly fee blasted; MONEY.
Byline: MIRROR REPORTERNEW banking fees being brought in by Ulster Bank are "unfair and regressive", Fine Gael's Catherine Noone has slammed.
The Dublin Senator yesterday urged the bank to reconsider introducing a monthly [euro]4 fee to use a current account.
Ms Noone said: "I would urge Ulster Bank to reconsider these fees. This charge is not just disappointing, it's unfair and regressive.
"It is yet further confirmation it is no longer possible for Irish people to hold affordable bank accounts without meeting the lofty requirements set by the banks.
"The fact Ulster Bank account holders can only avoid these fees by making monthly lodgements of [euro]3,000, or by always having [euro]3,000 in their account, means many people will be unable to avoid these fees.
"And it means those who least can afford it will be penalised the most."
