Ubicom Network Processor Selected as Foundation for D-Link DPR-1260 RangeBooster G Multifunction Print Server.

Powerful CPU and Versatile SDK Enable Innovative Features for D-Link's Multifunction Print Server

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Ubicom, a leading provider of communications processor and software solutions, has been adopted as a network processor platform by D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers and business, for its innovative multifunction print servers. Using the Ubicom[R] IP3023[TM] multithreaded processor, the D-Link[R] RangeBooster G[TM] Multifunction Print Server (DPR-1260) offers unparalleled device compatibility, easy installation as well as software-free, Web-based scanning functionality.

Ubicom's high-performance processor, sophisticated networking functionality and fully featured software development kit (SDK) enabled D-Link to rapidly design a class-leading wireless print server for networking multiple printers or multifunction printers (MFPs). The DPR-1260 distinguishes itself due to the power of Ubicom's platform which allows on-board applications, such as Web-based scanning from any PC, thus removing the need for dedicated software or drivers. In addition, the advanced capabilities of the platform allow D-Link to offer an unmatched range of printer and device compatibility.

The D-Link RangeBooster G Multifunction Print Server (DPR-1260) also offers a fully automated Quick Installation Wizard, making user-configuration and setup simple. The DPR-1260 also supports Microsoft[R] Windows Connect Now (WCN) functionality, which enables users to transfer settings via a USB flash drive. Additionally, the print server is fitted with an Ethernet port, which doubles as a wireless bridge, and connects to any Ethernet-enabled device, such as a computer or digital video recorder (DVR). It can wirelessly share up to four MFPs and allow multiple users to print and scan over the same network.

"Ubicom's network processor platform enabled us to pack the DPR-1260 multifunction print server with a range of features not found in competing products," said Brian Larsen, associate vice president of product development for D-Link. "Ordinarily, users would be required to install dedicated device drivers on their laptop or PC prior to connecting with a networked scanner. Thanks to the flexibility of Ubicom's chipset, the DPR-1260 offers that functionality as a Web-based application, saving users from the inconvenience of driver configuration."

"D-Link continues to find ways to take advantage of the Ubicom processor platform to develop products that push the boundaries in home networking," said Keith Morris, vice president of marketing for Ubicom. "The DPR-1260 stands out because of the sophistication and the range of features offered, such as its broad printer compatibility, ease of installation, and custom-designed Web-based scanning applications."

Pricing and Availability

The D-Link RangeBooster G Multifunction Print Server is now available for an estimated price of $99.
