UWCC members meet Sgt. Pepper Greystone.

Byline: Submitted by Joe Gasparich

The University Women of Christian County met for the April meeting at Whit's End Restaurant on Tuesday, Apr. 2. The two guests were Kelle Endris and her standard poodle Sgt. Pepper Greystone. Endris presented a "Portrait of Grey, Canine Rock Star."

Grey is a CKC, Canadian Kennel Club, registered standard poodle. Poodles are known for being a relatively hypoallergenic breed that does not shed, but Kelle says he is like a Swiffer duster. Things attach themselves to his lush coat.

Grey was adopted by Endris and her husband when he was 2 years old from an elderly couple who could no longer care for him. Because his owners had health issues, he was comfortable around medical equipment, etc., and Endris now takes Grey to nursing homes and other place to be a service dog.

Grey has been an orphan, adopted, a father, and is now a registered healer. One of Grey's sons helps autistic children and is able to read 20 words. Grey has been at the children's book fair in Moweaqua, starred at Harmony's Spring Concert, loves to dress up at Halloween, and is now being groomed for a Clydesdale role in November.

UWCC is a community-based organization that awards scholarships to women of Christian County. Applications are now available at Taylorville Library, Taylorville office of LLCC, and Taylorville Chamber of Commerce.
