UTILICORP NAMES STANLEY IKENBERRY TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- UtiliCorp United (NYSE: UCU) today announced that Dr. Stanley O. Ikenberry, Ph.D. has been named to its board of directors.
 Ikenberry, 57, has served as president of the University of Illinois, Urbana since 1979.
 His career in education has spanned more than 30 years. Prior to assuming his present position, he was a senior vice president at Pennsylvania State University. He has also held teaching and administrative posts at Michigan State University and West Virginia University.
 Ikenberry serves on several boards, including the Franklin Life Insurance Company, Harris Bankcorp, and Pfizer, Inc. He holds a B.A. degree in history/political science from Shepard College, and an M.A. in counseling/psychology and a Ph.D. in higher education from Michigan State University. Ikenberry also holds honorary degrees from Millikin University, Rush University, West Virginia University, Illinois College and Michigan State University, and is an honorary alumnus of Pennslyvania State University.
 Ikenberry also is a trustee of the Carnegie Foundation for Advancement of Teaching and a director of the National Science Center.
