UTILICORP NAMES ROBERT K. GREEN TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- UtiliCorp United (NYSE: UCU) today announced that Robert K. Green has been named to its Board of Directors.
 As Executive Vice President of UtiliCorp, Green, 31, oversees the company's utility operations.
 Prior to moving to UtiliCorp management in January 1993, Green was president of the company's Missouri Public Service division for two years. Prior to that he had held other executive posts at the utility since 1988.
 Green was previously an attorney with the Kansas City law firm of Blackwell, Sanders, Matheny, Weary & Lombardi. He holds a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Princeton University and a J.D. law degree from Vanderbilt University, and is a member of the state bar of Missouri.
 Green is the brother of UtiliCorp Chairman and President Richard C. Green, Jr. He is a fourth generation member of the family that founded UtiliCorp's predecessor companies.
 "Bob's addition to our board adds a great deal of practical knowledge and experience within the energy industry, which will help us deal with the challenges we must tackle in the years to come," said Richard Green.
 Robert Green serves on the board of directors of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the boards of the Heart of America United Way and the Heart of America Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
 The addition of Robert Green brings the number of UtiliCorp board members to nine.
 Based in Kansas City, UtiliCorp provides gas and electric service to more than one million customers in eight states, British Columbia and New Zealand. The company is also engaged in various non-regulated utility and energy related enterprises in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
