UTILICORP INCREASES DIVIDEND ON COMMON STOCK, DECLARES REGULAR PREFERENCE DIVIDENDS

 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of UtiliCorp United (NYSE: UCU) voted today to increase the quarterly cash dividend on common stock from 40 cents to 42 cents. The dividend is payable at the new rate on Dec. 12, 1993, to shareholders of record on Nov. 19, 1993.
 Since Utilicorp United was formed in May 1985, the company has increased its cash dividend rate 10 times, a total of 91 percent. The previous increase was in November 1991.
 Also declared were the following dividends on preference stock, payable Dec. 1, 1993, to shareholders of record Nov. 19, 1993:

 UtiliCorp common stock is listed on the New York, Pacific and Toronto exchanges.
