UTILICORP ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF SENIOR OFFICER

 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- UtiliCorp United (NYSE: UCU) today announced that Harry L. Winn Jr. left the company effective immediately.
 Winn, 48, joined UtiliCorp in January 1991 and had overall responsibility for UtiliCorp's finance and accounting activities. He played a role in developing the finance organization, particularly in bringing systems and procedures into it.
 Prior to joining UtiliCorp, Winn was vice president, controller of Squibb United States and vice president, treasurer of Squibb Corporation, and vice president, treasurer of Baxter International, Inc. He also held treasury and banking positions with American Hospital Supply Corporation.
 Based in Kansas City, UtiliCorp provides gas and electric service to more than a million customers in eight states, the province of British Columbia, and New Zealand. Aquila Energy and UtilCo Group are non-regulated subsidiaries.
