USWA NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE TO VOTE MONDAY ON TENTATIVE AGREEMENT WITH USX CORP.
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The agreement in principle on a new 5-1/2 year contract between the United Steelworkers of America (USWA) and USX Corp. will be submitted to the union's full negotiating committee at a meeting here next Monday (Nov. 22), the USWA announced today. Andrew V. Palm, director of USWA District 15 and the union's chief negotiator with USX, said the local union presidents and grievance committee chairpersons who comprise the full negotiating committee will meet at the Pittsburgh Hyatt hotel beginning at 9:30 a.m. After receiving all details of the proposed agreement, the committee will vote on whether to recommend it to the membership for approval. Palm will hold a news conference at the Hyatt following the meeting to discuss the proposal. The USWA represents approximately 15,000 workers at USX facilities in Fairfield, Ala.; Gary, Ind.; Braddock, Pa.; Clairton, Pa.; Dravosburg, Pa.; Fairless Hills, Pa.; and Mt.
