 USW TO STAGE RALLY AT JACKSON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
 The United Steelworkers of America (USW) will be staging a rally


Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Jackson County Fairgrounds near Ripley, W.Va., to celebrate the 20-month struggle by USW Local 5668 to win a contract with the Ravenswood Aluminum Corp.
 Jim Bowen, director of USW District 23, said the "One Day Longer" celebration will salute the members of Local 5668, their friends, families and supporters from the Ravenswood area and representatives of the labor movement that forced the Ravenswood Aluminum Corp. back to the bargaining table to negotiate an end to the lockout.
 Bowen will serve as master of ceremonies. Guest speakers include West Virginia Gov. Gaston Caperton; Lynn Williams, international president of the USW; George Becker, international vice-president of the USW, who headed the union's coordinated campaign in the dispute; and Dan Stidham, president of USW Local 5668. Among others participating are Cecil Roberts, vice president of the United Mine Workers; Joe Powell, president of the West Virginia AFL-CIO; Harry Lester, director of USW District 29, Detroit; Frank Vickers, director of USW 30, Indianapolis.
 The speakers rally will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Food, beverages and ice cream will be served by the Ravenswood and Ripley Band boosters beginning at noon with music and other activities until 4 p.m.
