USG CORP. EXPANDS RESPONSIBILITIES OF KEY SENIOR EXECUTIVES, FOOTE AND SAK

CHICAGO, Nov. 30 ~PRNewswire~ -- USG Corp. (NYSE: USG) today announced that William C. Foote, currently president and CEO of L&W Supply Corp., will add a dual accountability as president and CEO for USG's second largest subsidiary, USG Interiors, Inc. That position was formerly held by Donald E. Roller, who was earlier appointed president and CEO United States Gypsum Company.
Stanley R. Sak, president and CEO of USG International, will add accountability for USG's Canadian subsidiary, CGC, Inc. and its president and CEO, William R.C. Macdonald, will report to him. Both appointments are effective Jan. 1, 1993. Messrs. Sak and Foote will continue to report to Anthony J. Falvo, president and COO of USG Corp.
Commenting on the appointments, USG Chairman and CEO Eugene B. Connolly said, "The additional accountability of CGC for Mr. Sak consolidates responsibility for USG's growing international businesses under one executive. This offers obvious advantages from an efficiency and effectiveness standpoint. By giving Mr. Foote dual responsibility for USG Interiors and L&W Supply, both entities will benefit from his management strengths and the discipline he brings to these businesses."
The 41-year-old Foote joined USG in 1984 as director of strategic planning. He held a variety of management assignments for various USG units before being named president and CEO of L&W Supply in 1991. Prior to his USG career he worked for McKinsey and Chase Manhattan Bank. He earned a BA from Williams College and an MBA from Harvard.
The 52-year-old Sak joined Donn Corp., later acquired by USG, in 1978 as an operations manager. He held a variety of management assignments at Donn until it was acquired by USG in 1986. He then occupied senior management positions with USG Interiors until his appointment as president and CEO of USG International in 1991. He holds a BA from Cleveland State and an MBA from Case Western Reserve.
USG Corp. is a Fortune 250 manufacturer and distributor of a wide variety of construction materials. Its principal subsidiaries include United States Gypsum Company, USG Interiors, Inc. L&W Supply Corporation, CGC, Inc., and USG International.
