USB announces affiance with Firestone.
United States Beverage purchased the SLO brand, having successfully marketed the regional beer the past three years. Firestone Walker, a premier brewer of craft beers, purchased the SLO brewing facility. Matthew Brynildson will remain as brewmaster, maintaining the highest-quality craft beer production.
Under the alliance, United States Beverage will aggressively market SLO products in California. Plans will include future expansion of the SLO brand to Arizona, Nevada and Colorado. Firestone Walker, makers of Double Barrel Ale, will be responsible for all brewing operations.
Following a series of brand-building efforts by United States Beverage, SLO has experienced substantial growth in California. SLO Brew grew 43% from 1998 to 2000.
"Working with such a highly regarded brewer as Firestone will help strengthen SLO as one of the finest craft beer brands in California," said Joseph Fisch, president and CEO of United States Beverage. "We look to continue substantial growth during the next five years."
