USAIR TO EXPAND SERVICE AT BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL: WILL REMAIN PRICE COMPETITIVE ON FARES

 ARLINGTON, Va., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir reaffirmed its long- term commitment to Baltimore/Washington International Airport and said it will meet competitive moves by existing and new competitors "head on."
 The airline also announced that it will add additional nonstop service between its BWI hub and both Cleveland and Chicago, as well as new flights between BWI and New Orleans, Las Vegas, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh, beginning Sept. 7.
 Fares for the new USAir services are being determined and the airline stressed that it will not be undersold at BWI or other major airports on its system.
 On Sept. 7 USAir will increase daily flights between BWI and Chicago to four, with the addition of two new flights to Midway Airport. The other two will continue to serve O'Hare International Airport. Service between BWI and Cleveland will increase from three to five daily roundtrips.
 Also effective Sept. 7 will be the introduction of nonstop flights between BWI and Las Vegas as well as expansion of service between BWI and Indianapolis from two to three daily flights and between BWI and Pittsburgh from five to seven daily flights. As announced previously, new daily nonstop flights between BWI and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, will begin Nov. 10.
 USAir will increase the number of destinations served from BWI from 59 to 61 on Sept. 7.
 USAir currently serves BWI with 91 daily jet departures. Its USAir Express affiliates offer another 89 daily flights. Included in these schedules are international services to London, Bermuda, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. The airline has more than 2,000 employees based at BWI.
 USAir operates a full-service airline operation, providing advance seat assignments, reservations through all major airline reservations systems, interline bag service (automatic transferral of baggage to other carriers on connecting flights), a Frequent Traveler Program (FTP) offering worldwide flight awards, and in-flight beverage and meal service.
