USAIR RETURNS TO ORANGE COUNTY AND INITIATES INTRODUCTORY FARE TO EAST COAST DESTINATIONS

 ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir plans to return to John Wayne Airport in Orange County with two daily nonstop flights to Pittsburgh beginning April 4, pending the Orange County Board of Supervisors approval of a leasing agreement. The carrier will offer passengers a special introductory excursion fare to a number of east coast destinations and a USAir Frequent Traveler Mileage bonus to help celebrate its return.
 "This new service gives the community of Orange County access to the large USAir network in the eastern half of the United States," said W. Thomas Lagow, USAir's executive vice president of marketing.
 The introductory roundtrip excursion fare of $378 will be effective between Orange County and the following cities: Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Cleveland, Hartford, Newburgh, Newark, New York, Philadelphia, Rochester and Washington. The fare is valid for travel originating from April 4 through April 30, 1993. The tickets, which are nonrefundable, must be purchased seven days in advance of travel and within 24 hours of making a reservation. A Saturday night stayover is also required. Senior citizens can apply an additional 10 percent discount. Travelers wishing to take advantage of the introductory fare must purchase their tickets by March 2.
 The new nonstop flights to Pittsburgh, USAir's largest hub, are scheduled to depart Orange County at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., and arrive Pittsburgh at 3:25 p.m. and 8:28 p.m., respectively. The flights will continue to New York's LaGuardia Airport and will arrive there at 5:26 p.m. and 10:49 p.m., respectively. The flights are well- timed to make a number of connections over Pittsburgh to such cities as Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Washington.
 Flights from Pittsburgh will depart at 9:30 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. and arrive here at 11:57 a.m. and 8:20 p.m., respectively.
 Members of the USAir Frequent Traveler Program will receive a double mileage bonus on any flight between Orange County and Pittsburgh from April 4 through May 31, 1993.
 USAir last served John Wayne Airport on May 2, 1991. USAir Express, operated by StatesWest, provides seven daily nonstop flights between John Wayne Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.
