 USAIR REPORTS NOVEMBER TRAFFIC
ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir today reported

decreases of 6.5 percent in revenue passenger miles and 4.8 percent in available seat miles flown in scheduled service during November compared with the same month of last year, which reflects a reduced level of flying and the fact that a portion of the peak Thanksgiving holiday travel fell in December this year.
USAir also noted that the economy in the Northeastern United States, a region in which much of its service is concentrated, has been particularly impacted by the national economic recession.
On May 2, 1991, USAir ended operations at eight West Coast cities and reduced flying levels at two of its hubs. The discontinuance of service as a result of the May schedule restructuring will have an unfavorable impact on traffic comparisons year over year for the next five months.
November load factor was 58.9 percent compared with 59.9 percent for November 1990.
During the first 11 months of 1991, USAir posted declines of 4.7 percent in revenue passenger miles flown and 1.9 percent in available seat miles compared with the same period of last year. Year-to-date load factor was 58.3 percent vs. 60.1 percent for the first 11 months of 1990.
