USAIR PILOTS WELCOME BRITISH AIRWAYS INVESTMENT

USAIR PILOTS WELCOME BRITISH AIRWAYS INVESTMENT
WASHINGTON, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement was

issued today by Capt. Armen Janzen, chairman of the USAir pilots Master Executive Council, a unit of the Air Line Pilots Association:
We are pleased and excited by the announced plan for British Airways to invest in our airline. While we must remain cognizant of the foreign ownership issues involved, we are confident that this investment will forge one of the premier global partnerships in aviation. It will provide USAir a valuable opportunity to ensure its continued viability and expand into the growing worldwide markets.
This development validates the pilots' decision to participate in the company's recovery program through our recently negotiated labor contract. By helping USAir to control costs and increase efficiency, we greatly increased the attractiveness of USAir for foreign investors such as British Airways.
