USAIR PILOTS RESPOND TO COMPANY'S REQUEST FOR COST SAVINGS
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The USAir Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilots Association, governing body for the pilots of USAir, today agreed to engage in contract talks which will specifically address the carrier's recent financial difficulties.
In these talks, the pilots will offer to make investments through cost savings in exchange for appropriate returns on investments and important contract protections. The pilots' investments are subject to negotiation by USAir with other parties, including participation by other employee groups at USAir, concerning the amount and form of the investments and the remaining terms of a new labor contract.
The pilot group has been in negotiations for a new contract since September 1991 and most recently has been conducting negotiations with the assistance of a federal mediator.
