USAIR FINALIZES STRIKE FLIGHT SCHEDULE FOR THE NEXT WEEK,
REPORTS EXCELLENT OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE ON TUESDAY
ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir today made a service commitment to customers and travel agents by finalizing and posting a systemwide flight schedule for the next seven days. Under this schedule, USAir still operates more daily jet departures than several other major U.S. carriers, including Northwest, Continental and TWA.
On Tuesday, Oct. 6, USAir operated 1,561 jet flights, completing 98.5 percent of all flights scheduled, excellent performance even on a normal day. On-time arrival performance, within 14 minutes of schedule, was 88.8 percent.
"Yesterday's high level of performance proves that we are operating a reliable airline schedule," said USAir Chairman Seth E. Schofield. "Through the finalization of our schedule for a seven-day period, USAir is providing a commitment to our valued customers and travel agents that they can count on USAir to provide a good base level of service."
This schedule is now available for sale by travel agents and reservations agents and will be supplemented with additional flights as USAir builds up service in the near future.
At Washington's National Airport, USAir is operating 83 percent of its regular schedule, and more flights than any other carrier -- 56 USAir jet, 78 USAir Express and 15 USAir Shuttle departures. At National, USAir still offers the only nonstop jet service to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and West Palm Beach.
