USAIR EXPRESS TO EXPAND SERVICE AT KINSTON, REPLACE USAIR JET SERVICE TO CHARLOTTE

USAIR EXPRESS TO EXPAND SERVICE AT KINSTON,
REPLACE USAIR JET SERVICE TO CHARLOTTE
KINSTON, N.C., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir Express will expand service from Kinston to Charlotte, N.C., June 1 by one daily departure, helping to replace USAir jet service in that market which is being discontinued June 1. The new USAir Express service will provide an excellent pattern of frequency for business and leisure travelers traveling to USAir's Charlotte hub airport.
The USAir Express flights will be operated by CCAIR, Inc., of Charlotte, which provides USAir Express service under a marketing affiliation with USAir. Kinston will receive CCAIR's largest, most high-tech aircraft -- the modern, 37-passenger Boeing deHavilland DASH-8 -- which currently is being added to the CCAIR fleet.
 Under the June schedule, USAir Express flights will depart Kinston at 7 a.m., 10:50 a.m., 1:40 p.m., 4:05 p.m. and 6:40 p.m., arriving at USAir's Charlotte hub at 8 a.m., 11:50 a.m., 2:40 p.m., 5:10 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.
 Flights from Charlotte to Kinston will depart at 9:40 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 4:50 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., arriving Kinston at 10:35 a.m., 1:10 p.m., 3:50 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 10:40 p.m.
USAir is canceling its two daily jet roundtrips from Kinston to Charlotte as of June 1. For February 1992, the average number of passengers per jet departure was 28 -- not a profitable operation for the 63-seat or 68-seat jet aircraft which serve Kinston. USAir Express aircraft will better match market capacity with demand and maintain a high-frequency pattern of service important to local travelers. In June, USAir Express will offer 185 seats daily from Kinston, compared with the current level of 207 for USAir and USAir Express.
