USAIR EXPRESS TO BEGIN NONSTOP SERVICE FROM ROANOKE TO NEW YORK LAGUARDIA AIRPORT

ARLINGTON, Va., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir Express will begin nonstop service from Roanoke Regional Airport to New York's LaGuardia Airport starting Sept. 8.
One daily USAir Express roundtrip will be operated by Allegheny Commuter Airlines, using 37-passenger DASH-8 prop-jet aircraft.
"These flights are well-timed so that busy Roanoke business travelers can fly into New York early in the morning, put in a full day of meetings and return to Roanoke the same day, without the need for a New York hotel stay," said William Clark, Allegheny Commuter president and CEO.
"Roanoke area passengers using our new USAir Express service also will enjoy the comfort of the high-tech DASH-8, the most advanced aircraft in the USAir Express fleet," he added. "The DASH-8 features the latest in avionics and navigation and offers passengers a stand-up cabin, two-by-two seating on both sides of a center aisle, overhead bins, a lavatory on board and flight attendant service."
Roanoke area passengers taking the new nonstop will experience USAir's new 400,000-square-foot LaGuardia terminal, where USAir is the number one carrier, boarding half of all LaGuardia air travelers. Opened just last fall, the new $200 million, 400,000-square-foot terminal accommodates 200 daily USAir, USAir Express and USAir Shuttle departures. The terminal features sweeping expanses of glass, wide open spaces, a food court, USAir Club for members to work, meet or relax, and a selection of unique shops.
