USAIR EXPANDS SERVICE TO CHARLOTTE FROM THE VIRGINIA PENINSULA

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir today announced it will add two daily jet flights to Charlotte, N.C., effective Sept. 7. The new flights will supplement three daily USAir Express flights on modern Dash 8 turbo-prop aircraft.
Departures to Charlotte will increase from four to five, and available seats will nearly double, increasing from 148 to 289 daily.
"The Virginia Peninsula area has spoken, and USAir has responded," said Jim Evans, district sales manager for USAir. "Local travelers have shown a healthy demand for travel to and through Charlotte, and if the demand continues, this added service will be mutually beneficial for passengers and for USAir."
USAir offers 465 daily flights serving 109 U.S. airports from Charlotte, including service to London, Frankfurt, Germany, and the Caribbean.
Aircraft serving the two new jet flights will be a 64-seat F-28-4000 and a 110-seat Boeing 737-200.
From Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, USAir and USAir Express will offer a combined 16 daily departures, including jet service to USAir's largest hubs in Charlotte and Pittsburgh, as well as USAir Express turbo-prop service to hubs in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington-National.
USAir and its 10 USAir Express affiliates offer nearly 5,000 daily flights serving 211 airports in 38 states and seven countries.
At Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, USAir offers more departures than all other airlines combined.
