USA trial for murder rap Scot.

Byline: HEATHER RAMSAY

A SCOT wanted for murder in the United States faces being extradited for trial.

Philip Harkins, of Greenock, is charged with murdering Joshua Hayes in August, 1999, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Magistrates yesterday held him in custody to await a decision from the Home Secretary as to whether he should be sent to the US.

The victim, who Harkins was allegedly planning to rob, got out of his car and he was shot in the head.

A co-defendant, Terry Glover, implicated Harkins "as the shooter" and he was charged with first degree murder.

He failed to appear at court in America in July last year.

Harkins was arrested on February 3 this year in Greenock following a fatal road accident.
