US respects.

US Vice President Dick Cheney, accompanied by former President George Bush and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, joined international dignitaries in the Saudi capital yesterday to pay respects to new King Abdullah and offer condolences on the death of his half brother, King Fahd.

Saudi Arabia is a major US ally in the Middle East, and Abdullah has worked to repair ties strained by the September 11 attacks, in which 15 of the attackers were Saudis. The Bush family has developed extremely close ties with the fabulously wealthy Saudi leadership
