US rehab mission.

ANTI-ALCOHOL addiction campaigner Wynford Ellis Owen is to jet off to the USA to study how Americans make best use of community recovery centres.

Mr Owen, chief executive for the Welsh Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs, is funded by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship. During his time in the USA he will visit new recovery community centres.

"These centres stand out as they have achieved long-term recovery from severe alcohol and other drug related problems," he said.

He hopes by visiting these centres he will gain ideas on how to better build a strong after-care culture into the services being established as part of The Living Room rehab centre, Cardiff, which is due to open in 2011.
