US elections help CNN.com smash traffic record.

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

CNN.com says that its coverage of the US elections more than trebled the previous traffic record of its web site - the site served more than 100m page impressions worldwide on 7 November and over 150m on 8 November.

According to CNN its previous traffic record of 40m page impressions was set on 12 October, a day after a US presidential debate and when Middle East tensions escalated and a US Navy destroyer was attacked in Yemen.

In addition, the CNN.com site measured a yield of 6.3m unique users during the 24-hour period on 7 and 8 November - a 62% increase from the previous unique user record which was also set on 12 October.

CNN believes that the newly-launched European edition of CNN.com - CNN.com Europe - contributed to the record figures by driving traffic with analysis of the international impact of the US elections.
