US economist to deliver lecture.

AMERICAN economist Bennett McCallum is to deliver the fourth annual lecture of the Julian Hodge Institute of Applied Macroeconomics next month.

Professor McCallum - HJ Heinz Professor of economics in the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University - will lecture on the subject: British Monetary Arrangements - present and future.

The lecture will take place at the Park Thistle HotelCardiff on May 6. Author of works including International Monetary Economics, Prof McCallum is a former consultant to the Federal Reserve Board and a visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund.

The Institute's first annual lecture was delivered in 2000 by Mrs Thatcher's former economic adviser Sir Alan Walters, followed by Professor Otmar Issing, of the European Central Bank, and last year by economist Sir Alan Budd.
