US Navy holds change of command ceremony.

A US Navy change of command ceremony for Commander Task Force (CTF) 53 has been held at the Naval Support Activity, Juffair.

Captain Don Hodge relieved Captain Steve Kelley as commander of the task force, which provides logistics support to the entire US fleet in the Middle East, in presence of high-ranking naval officials.

"As commodore, Steve has been responsible for ensuring that operational logistics run seamlessly for the 25,000 sailors and marines that operate throughout the region," said US Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) commander Vice-Admiral Bill Gortney.

Captain Kelley has been commander of CTF 53 for the last 13 months, leading a task force responsible for supplying, staffing and fuelling the entire 20-ship fleet.

The work included moving people ashore, delivering parts, transferring fuel and ammunition, distributing mail and stocking the fleet to feed three meals a day to more than 15,000 people
