US LEC ADDS ETHERNET LOCAL LOOP TRANSPORT TO PITTSBURGH.
"US LEC continues to fortify its IP-based services portfolio with in-demand products that allow customers to run more effectively and efficiently," said Chuck Flaherty, regional vice president for US LEC. "Pittsburgh area businesses now have a valuable tool that offers faster speeds at incremental service levels and helps reduce networking equipment capital expenditures by using existing equipment."
The addition of Ethernet Local Loop to Pittsburgh now enables all of US LEC's Pennsylvania markets with the high-bandwidth transport service, now covering 14 of US LEC's 26 switching facilities. The service is currently available in the metro and surrounding areas of Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Fort Myers, Fla.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Miami; Nashville; New York City; Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Richmond, Va.; Washington, D.C. and West Palm Beach, Fla. US LEC plans to make this service available throughout its entire Eastern U.S. footprint by the end of 2006.
US LEC's Ethernet Local Loop provides a cost-effective Internet and data service option for companies who need flexible high-speed Data Services transport while limiting networking equipment costs. Since Ethernet technology works with existing network interface cards and routers, businesses can implement this service with its current infrastructure, reducing networking equipment costs.
US LEC offers Ethernet Local Loop in incremental bandwidth speeds ranging from 3 Megabits per second (Mbs) to 500Mbs, for Internet services. A bursting option to handle heavy, intermittent Internet traffic is also available. US LEC offers Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure quality and reliability of Internet service.
For multi-location customers utilizing MPLS VPN for data transport through its Ethernet Local Loop connection, US LEC offers speeds ranging from 1Mbs to 500Mbs. MPLS VPN also offers quality of service (QoS) guarantees. Quality guarantees ensure a business's most sensitive and demanding traffic, such as Customer Relationship Management applications or inventory management systems, receive priority delivery versus other non-priority traffic like Internet web surfing or e-mail applications. As priority traffic decreases, other traffic uses available bandwidth allowing businesses to buy and utilize only the bandwidth they need and reduce costs.
