The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has recognised the Mercedes-Benz GLC with the Top Safety Pick+ accreditation.

The vehicle received 'good' ratings in every crash category, with a superior-rated front crash prevention system and available 'good' headlights. In the small-overlap impact, the seatbelt allowed excessive forward movement and the dummy's head rolled to the left. The side curtain airbag deployed, however, and effectively prevented any impact with the A-pillar.

The automaker received three different headlight ratings with only the Advanced Lighting package's LED projectors receiving the top award. The lesser LED Headlamps and Taillamps package, also an upgrade option, earned an 'acceptable' rating, while the base model's halogen reflectors were granted a 'marginal' rating.
