US BUY MAKES VIVENDI UNIVERSAL WORLD LEADER IN ON-LINE VIDEO GAMES.
The French group Vivendi Universal has announced the signing of a final agreement on its acquisition of the American company Uproar for some USD140 million, making it the world leader in on-line video games. The purchase price of USD140 million breaks down into 80 million for net Uproar liquidities and 60 million for assets. This second sum represents 1.2 times Uproar's pro-forma turnover in 2000. Operational synergies in 2001 should be worth USD30 million, with the turnover of the new entity totalling about USD70 million. Through its specialist subsidiary Flipside, Vivendi Universal is offering USD3 in cash for Uproar shares. The offer will run from 20 February to 31 March.
