US Airways reports slight fall in July load factor but PRASM up 16%.


US Airways Group Inc (NYSE:LCC) reported today a slight drop in its load factor for July 2010 after a 1.1% growth in mainline traffic was outpaced by a 2.0% increase in mainline capacity compared to the same month last year.

The mainline passenger load factor stood at 85.7%, down 0.7 points from July 2009.

US Airways' president Scott Kirby said that the airline's July consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased by approximately 16% year-on-year while total revenue per available seat mile was up approximately 17%.

The July 2010 preliminary on-time performance for US Airways, as reported to the US Department of Transportation (DOT), was 82.1% with a completion factor of 98.9%.
