URETHANE TECHNOLOGIES NAMES NEW CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 Polyurethane Industry Veteran James D. Orefice Will Lead
 Company Sales and Marketing Efforts in International Markets
 IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Urethane Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: UTEC) today announced it has named James D. Orefice chief operating officer. Orefice, who will oversee marketing and business development, will start with the company Aug. 16.
 Roy McClellan, company president, said, "Jim's credentials in the polyurethane industry are outstanding. He has a special combination of talents and 25 years of experience that precisely meet our needs as we strive to build Urethane Technologies into a major source of innovative polyurethane technology worldwide. Jim will focus on Urethane Technologies' development from an R & D company to one with a powerful commercialization and marketing capability. We're delighted to have Jim on board."

 Prior to joining Urethane Technologies, Orefice worked for 11 years at ARCO Chemical Co., most recently as business manager-Asia Pacific. In that position, he had P & L responsibility for a product group with several hundred million dollars in annual revenues. Earlier at ARCO, he held positions including manager of urethane development, and business manager-polyols. Previously, he worked for Mobay Chemical Corp. in various supervisory capacities including research, development, technical services and marketing.
 Orefice, 51, has served as a member of the board of directors of the U.S. Society of Plastics Industry (SPI) a leading trade association with approximately 3,200 member companies worldwide. He has also served as chairman of the board of the SPI Polyurethane Division, which has 300 member firms internationally.
 Additionally, Urethane Technologies announced it has recently appointed Donald H. Killmer director of engineering. Killmer started with the company in April of this year.
 "With Don's extensive experience in manufacturing, engineering and design, we can bring state-of-the-art production equipment and chemical processing know-how directly to the market place," McClellan said.
 Killmer, 53, has 27 years of industry experience, most recently at Dow Chemical Co. where he worked for seven years managing projects dealing with automated reaction injection molding development and technical services. Previously, he worked for Upjohn Co.'s polymer chemicals division in technical services; and earlier at Ford Motor Co. in urethane parts engineering, development and manufacturing operations.
 Urethane Technologies develops proprietary polyurethane technology which the company licenses and sells to original equipment manufacturers. Application now in commercialization include flat-free microcellular bicycle tires. Applications in development include bathroom and kitchen fixtures and athletic shoe soles and shoe sole components.
