URE STILL ANNOYING; Midge Ure still angry with Bob.

BAND-AID writer Midge Ure has revealed he is still annoyed at how he was pushed into the background by Bob Geldof.

The pair came together to write one of the world's bestknown songs 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' in a bid to raise money for the starving people of Africa.

But what started off as a small project soon snowballed into an event which ended up with the one-time Boomtown Rat frontman getting an OBE.

But despite his input, Ure was left in the shadows. "Sure, it still irks a little bit that Bob is always the one mentioned when it comes to Band Aid and Live Aid.

"People were always asking me where my OBE was. What could I say? But without Bob's brashness the whole Band Aid thing would never have happened at all.

"I remember I appeared on the music show The Tube, which was co-hosted by Bob's wife Paula Yates. Bob asked me to help out with this song he was trying to write, and I did.

"The airplay royalties still go to the Band Aid Trust."

Despite the niggling stand-off the pair have remained good friends over the years.

And now media mogul Geldof has given Midge the thumbs-up for the reunion of his old band Ultravox.

"He told me that we would probably do it with some style and that it would be fun, which was a nice thing to say."

Ultravox, whose big hit was Vienna, started talking about a reunion last year when their albums were re-released.

Midge lives in Bath, where Irish star Van Morrison is also based.

And the singer will be back in Ireland on May 2 with Ultravox to play Dublin's Olympia Theatre as part of a 17-date tour of Ireland and the UK.
