UPTONS PLANS EXPANSION IN NASHVILLE, TENN.
ATLANTA, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Uptons, a leading southeastern fashion retail chain, announced plans to open a third store in Nashville during the fall of 1993 at Cool Springs Crossing, near Cool Springs Galleria. The 61,000-square-foot freestanding store, previously occupied by PharMor, will undergo a major renovation. The Nashville addition is part of a major expansion, including openings this fall in Memphis and Jackson, Tenn., and Atlanta. The company also plans to enter the Washington-Baltimore market during the spring of 1994. According to David Layne, president of Atlanta-based Uptons: "We're very excited by the opportunity to expand within the Nashville area. Our customers look to us for a good selection of fashion clothing and accessories. We take pride in giving them just that at moderate prices. We also provide our customers with an easy-to-shop environment, one that is well-organized and easily accessible. The Cool Springs location is a natural fit for our assortments and services." Uptons features branded clothing for women, men and children, as well as intimate apparel, accessories, jewelry and shoes. The company operates 28 stores, including two units in Nashville's Rivergate Shopping Center and South Plaza Shopping Center, 12 in metro Atlanta, six in North Carolina, four in South Carolina, and four in Virginia.
