UPTON MAN SENTENCED FOR MAIL FRAUD AND CONSPIRACY TO DEFRAUD CITICORP MORTGAGE

 BOSTON April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- An Upton man was sentenced today to three years of probation, including six months of home detention for mail fraud and conspiracy in connection with a fraudulent scheme to obtain loans from Citicorp Mortgage, Inc.
 U.S. Attorney A. John Pappalardo stated that Harold Burnett, 51, of 109 Glen Avenue, Upton, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge A. David Mazzone to three years of probation, including six months of home detention, for having committed mail fraud and conspiracy by submitting false and fraudulent loan applications to Citicorp Mortgage on behalf of borrowers for the purchase of property at Westbrook Acres, Inc., a modular home development in Orange, Mass. Judge Mazzone ordered Burnett to pay restitution to Citicorp Mortgage in the amount of $31,693.
 The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was referred to the U.S. Attorney by the U.S. Trustee in Boston, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark J. Balthazard of Pappalardo's Economic Crimes Unit and the U.S. Trustee's Office.
 The investigation of fraud in connection with Westbrook Acres is continuing.
