ELLIE DOWNIE was crowned Great Britain's first European all-around champion after a thrilling finish in Cluj, Romania.

The 17-year-old gymnast trailed Hungary's Zsofia Kovacs throughout before she nailed her final floor routine to win by just 0.333 of a point.

It was a superb display from Downie, who has also qualified for all four individual apparatus finals this weekend.

She said: "It was just crazy when I discovered I'd won." BASKETBALL Kieron Achara hit a last-second buzzer beater as Glasgow Rocks snatched a 72-70 win at Leeds Force in the British Basketball League last night to stay on course to finish in third place.
