UO plans Flute Day; Boston violist to visit.
Three recitals are scheduled this week at the University of Oregon School of Music, 961 E. 18th Ave.
Flutist Louise Di Tullio
Sunday, Beall Hall
Louise Di Tullio will cap the University of Oregon School of Music's second annual Flute Day this Sunday.
Di Tullio will play music by J.S. Bach, Claude Debussy, Benjamin Godard and others.
UO SCHOOL OF MUSIC
One of the most widely recorded flutists in the world, Di Tullio has played on more than 1,000 TV and film soundtracks. She also has recorded on albums by Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.
The recital begins at 8 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall. Tickets are $9 at the door ($5 for students and senior citizens).
The recital wraps up a daylong workshop for flutists of all ages and abilities. Events begin at noon at the UO School of Music and include recitals, classes and reading sessions.
Cost for the workshop is $12 (preregistered) or $15 at the door. For information, contact Andrew, 346-3790.
Goodvibes Jazz Duo
Monday, Gerlinger Lounge
Vibraphonist Charles Dowd and marimbist Tracy Freeze, known as the Goodvibes Jazz Duo, will play modern chamber jazz Monday in a Faculty Artist Series concert.
They will play music by Dowd, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett and others.
Freeze is a professor of percussion at Emporia State University in Kansas. Dowd is a percussion professor at the UO.
The recital begins at 8:30 p.m. at Gerlinger Alumni Lounge, 1468 University St. Tickets, at the door, are $9 ($3 students and seniors).
Violist Marcus Thompson
Jan. 26, Beall Hall
Boston violist Marcus Thompson, a faculty member at New England Conservatory of Music and at MIT, will visit Eugene for a recital with UO faculty members.
The program includes Sonata in F Minor for Viola and Piano by Johannes Brahms, as well as pieces by Joaquin Turina and Antonin Dvorak.
The recital is at 8 p.m. in Beall Hall. Tickets are $9 at the door ($5 for students and senior citizens).
